Site Sapiens Administrative Interface Quick Overview

General Information about Site Sapiens Administrative Interface

You can see in the top area of the window Site Sapiens logo, name of current system user, buttons: “Information about the system”, “On-line help”, “Log-out”. Below there are tabs of basic administrative interfaces: structure, users, files, services, reports, configuration. More below there is working area of the window and in the bottom there is line with copyright information.

Structure Interface

This interface is destined for information space structure management. The structure contains resources (sites) of the information space. You need to press icon with “+” picture next to the object in order to expand structure branch of the resource. The system will load data of the requested branch and show them. You need to choose the object in the tree and press the link “Add subsection” next to it in order to create a new resource/section/document. However, you also can press mouse’s right button and choose the same operation in the appeared menu. You can choose the link “Properties” in order to change properties and content of the document. If you need to move the resource/section/document, “drag and drop” the object of the structure tree using icon. “Dragging and dropping” with holding Ctrl allows you to copy the object. You can “drag and drop” the object to the recycle bin icon and press button “Save changes” under the structure tree in order to delete resource/section/document.

Informational Object Management

Site Sapiens system of information classification means 3 types of informational objects: document, record and file.

The interface, which is showed in a new window within any informational object creating or modification, has following common characteristics. Buttons for changes saving and canceling are located in the top panel of the interface. The menu of interface tabs and the working area of the selected tab are located beneath.

Properties

When we are editing a document after choosing “Properties” tab you will able to edit document title, key part of document web address, type of the document (document with content, pointer to document, pointer to document data, external link), assign document template.

If you need the document contains informational channels, choose layout. System will create channels in the section and, if it is necessary, within records of that channels in according with the layout instructions.

Content

When you choose “Content” tab, system will show the list of content request, which is specified in the assigned document template. If you need WYSIWYG within text editing, open the panel below text area, using “»” icon. You click it holding Shift, you will get extended WYSIWYG mode.

The panel of document backup copy management is located beneath. Press appropriate icon to activate the panel.

Informational Channels

“Informational channels” tab will be available if you assign some layout to the document or the record contains channels in according with the layout. In those cases the interface will contain informational channels. They number and configuration are specified by layout instructions. Every informational channel contains record set. The interface allows to changing of records sequence using “drag and drop”, sorting of the list and filtering the list. You can press “Add” button above certain channel panel in order to add a record. Choose records holding Ctrl and press “Delete” below the list in order to delete records.

The interface allows to assign extra relationship between informational objects of the system. There are 3 types of relationship: keywords, “many to many” relationship and “one to many” relationship.

Security

The interface allows to create access control list of the informational object. That is the list of users and user groups, where every object has list of access permission in the case of the informational object.

Users Interface

The interface contains the structure tree of user groups. When you choose a group in the tree, the system will show the list of depended users and groups.

You can press “^” button above the user and groups list and fill the form in the appeared window in order to add a user or a group. Press “Properties” link next to needed object in the list in order to change user/group properties. Choose users/groups holding Ctrl and press “Delete” below the list in order to delete objects.

User management

Files Interface

The interface contains the tree of virtual file system folders. When you choose a folder in the tree, the system will show the list of depended files.

You should press “^” button above the file list and assign file in the appeared window in order to upload file. Press “Properties” link next to needed file in the file list in order to change properties of the file. Choose files holding Ctrl and press “Delete” below the file list in order to delete files.

File management

Services Interface

Interface allows to manage various services of Site Sapiens. Number of services is specified by the license. There are always two services: mail listing management and system console. The first one allows to specify mail listing settings (mail listing is applying automatically by server script). The second one allows to use utilities of Site Sapiens.

Reports Interface

The interface contains administrative event report.

Configuration Interface

The interface contains the list of configuration register records. You should press “Add” button above the list in order to add a record. Press “Properties” link next to needed record in the list in order to change properties of the record. Choose records holding Ctrl and press “Delete” below the list in order to delete records.
